The Illertal valley and the surrounding area are ideal for cycling and hiking. There are plenty of suitable routes around the municipality of Kirchberg an der Iller.

Cycle paths in the Illertal

Well-prepared cycle paths right next to the Danube-Iller cycle route, which runs from Ulm via Illertissen and Memmingen to Oberstdorf, are ideal for a cycling trip.

Iller cycle path passing by the campsite

The Iller cycle path essentially follows the course of the Iller, which is formed in Oberstdorf by the confluence of the Breitach, Stillach and Trettach rivers. This "source of the Iller" can be explored by bike. After that, the Iller flows through the Allgäu region and touches the major cities of Kempten, Memmingen and Ulm. It flows into the Danube near Ulm.

Mariensteig Tour between Kellmünz and Altenstadt

The moderately difficult circular route mostly follows forest and woodland paths in the Bavarian State Forest along the "Illerleite", a densely forested ridge on the eastern side of the Iller Valley. The Mariensteig between Kellmünz and Altenstadt is a well-maintained footpath. The circular walk is ideal for nature lovers.
